Viruses, Spyware, and Adware, Oh My!
Unfortunately some people always look to take advantage of a good thing. The good thing being that millions of people world wide have access to the Internet. Those taking advantage use this to their ends, either maliciously or financially, by spreading computer viruses, Spyware, and Adware.
Removal and Protection
So what to do? If your computer is running slower, behaving oddly, or plagued with pop-up ads, chances are it has already been compromised and will need to be "disinfected". Then it's a matter of avoiding exposure and installing protection to ensure it.
Fortunately, we have the good guys (and gals) on our side. There are several great programs to scan, remove, and block the bad stuff, and some of them are even free for home users.

Avoiding Exposure
Here are some of the steps you can take:
- Install an Anti-Virus Program
- Install a Spyware removal program and scan your system regularly
- Keep your System software patched (updated)
- Use care when reading Email with attachments
- Avoid file-sharing programs
- Don't be tempted to click on things that pop-up on your screen
- Stay away from disreputable sites
- Set your Internet browser security to at least medium
- Use caution when downloading and installing programs
